  • My People Photo Evolution 2006-2008

    // October 29th, 2008

    I am working on this brand new collage – pictures of people that I’ve photographed between 2006-2008. I’m calling it, “People 2006-2008″. It features all the models that I’ve worked with over the years. I’ve found that my shooting style has changed over time. I remembered how nervous I was when I started and how long it took but I’ve always got the “look”.

    I’m about 2/3 way done with the project. I’ve got more photos to go through but wanted to share this work in progress. I expect to continue shooting and get done with the project by the end of the year, hence 2006-2008. I’ve just invested another $300 of equipment for my studio and I’m looking to get a new style and new look for this project.

    Will you help me out? Please contact me if you want to model for me.

    My Non-Routine Life

    // October 27th, 2008

    This is a continuation of yesterday’s early AM blog. Let’s see, another thing that came back to mind is identity. I’ve decided to stick to my original first name when I got to the US. It would have been easy to pick a common name and make it easy on others but seriously, it was something that I remembered wanting to do. But as a result, people shorten my name anyway. It really doesn’t bother me either way how it gets shortened. I’ve heard it many different variations of it by now. :)

    For the most part, I’d say that I live my daily life without a routine. For about 90% of the time, my week is never the same except that there isn’t enough time to get things done. I’m trying this new thing where I get up early in the morning (yuck) and get to work early. I’m also leaving early and having the extra few hours after work when other people are still working and being able to run errands have been wonderful. I also got to work out too. :)

    I’m a self-proclaimed night owl who is looking to be a morning person. That is the fun part.

    The Questions

    // October 26th, 2008

    Okay, I realize that it’s a 2am post and I’ve had a few. But seriously, the questions that I hate people asking me these days are: “What’s your nationality?” What does it matter?

    The other one, “What do you do?” Maybe I’m too snobish for this answer but if I answer with “I’m an engineer”. Most people go, “Oh cool.” So, instead of a 2 worded answer, I think the converation should go more like “I’m an actor. I pretend to be someone else everyday”. Then it could be, “Have I seen you in a movie before?”

    There’s lots of comebacks for that. Let’s see what else bothers me at 2am. There’s the fake people that I still don’t like. Nothing will change that.

    Recalibrate

    // October 22nd, 2008

    Recalibrating… Recalibrating… Where did the time go?

    I seriously need to slow down a little bit and calm down. I’ve been running like crazy without fail for a while now and I don’t think it’s healthy. I’m in need of stopping now and figuring out where I’m headed. I need to recalibrate and reprioritize things. Otherwise, things will never get done and I’ll keep getting frustrated when they are not done.

    It’s almost time to look back at 2008 and figure out what I’ve accomplished this year and what I need to accomplish next year. Scary how time flies when you don’t expect it.

    A Morning Night Owl?

    // October 15th, 2008

    I’ve heard that you cannot be both a morning person and a night owl. Well, I am a morning person on weekdays but I’m a complete night owl on weekends. But for most of my grad school career, I haven’t slept past 8am on weekends because I always felt like I’ve got a lot to do. I’ve been sleeping in again and it feels good. This is the light at the end of the tunnel that I’ve been waiting for.

    I can also feel again. It is a great feeling to be alive once again. I feel the blood in my veins and it’s healthy. Peak of my health and ready to rock. :) Maybe also coz I’m back into photography that I love.

    To Ludington, MI

    // October 10th, 2008

    On a car ferry, with about 20 mins before departure and I’m thinking to myself, “Shit, this hotel is actually quite far from the ferry station”. In the days that I’ve gotten used to driving, walking for 30 mins seemed like it will take forever. Perhaps it’ll be fair to say that I live in the days where the days and weeks go by very quickly so 30 mins seems like a lifetime away.

    Or is it because that I have a few extra bags that I need to carry around that I’m not used to. Or maybe coz I’m feeling absolutely sleepy after 4.5 hours of driving. Or perhaps because I had forgotten my earphones and my shades at the last minute and its a 4 hours ride with 1.5 hours of battery life on the laptop. There’s no real answers to my questions. Just more questions.
